The 'thank you' therapy!
Are you guilty of not saying thank you for the lil gestures? Maybe its someone finding you a seat, gifts you receive no matter the value, the security guard opening the gate, the waitress at the restaurant or even the close people in our lives....yes there are lots of reasons to say thank you that we are not mindful of. A lot of us only know how to reward the big gestures and favors. We tell ourselves it is not important or it's no big deal. We assume these people do not mind. Yes some really do not mind but it's all in expressing our gratitude for every act of kindness we get, no matter who they are or where we got it. Thank you is a feel good therapy for the giver and the receiver. It leaves everyone feeling appreciated and happy. Yes it's that simple 'thank you' we forget to say. REMEMBER to say 'thank you' for every little act. Make it a habit. Ah ha! Are you guilty of not saying thank you?

Thank you for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to say thank you to inferior people but I think everyone deserves to be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteDifficult to say.
ReplyDeleteNo
ReplyDelete"Thank you" actually is suppose to be therapeutic to both party, but during my recent visit to Nigeria, I found out that "thank you" was no longer sufficient for somebody who open the door for you at the bank, or in an office, rather they want money for doing so. One day I was driving along Isolor Express way, I stop to ask a bystander where I can turn around to go back to the opposite direction, after directing me, he said I should give him money for giving me direction. Personally when you do the slightest favor for me, am very quick to thank you for it. Even at the airport, from the check in counter girls to the customs and Immigration officers, every body is begging for money. They have turn that country into a Berger Nation and it is very embarrassing. This is not only restricted to fellow Nigerians, they do the same to foreigners at the airport. Poverty has become a decease in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteBad leaders operate infected system like Nigeria and that also begats hungry and corrupt citizens
ReplyDeleteWow. Nice topic
ReplyDeleteVery well said, Teniola......I think I dropped that attitude of Gratitude. Thanks for bringing it to mind.
ReplyDeleteNice one Teni...However, do you think its 'takin da piss' when you say 'thank you' once, and they expect you to keep saying thank you every time you see them?
ReplyDeleteYes once is enough but I think 'thank you' can come as many times as we receive. It's just a simple 'thank you' after all. @Lola
